Hello Trailblazer Families:
BE PROACTIVE:
- Crossroads Teachers and Staff participated in an Intruder Simulation with the Kentucky State Police on our last Bullitt Day (January 2). We learned many things about keeping our students safe. Your child may come home and talk about some changes we are making in the way we do drills based on our new learning. We are working to keep all our kids safe and out of harms way here at CES!
- We'll be sending home early dismissal forms on Tuesday. Please fill these out and return, in case we have inclement weather.
- We have had MANY kids out sick the past few days. Please remember, if your child is going to be absent, please call and let us know. Don't forget to send in any doctor's notes or parent notes. when they return
- If your child is without a coat, please let us know. Mrs. Lowery in the Family Resource Center can help! With the temperatures being so low, we want to make sure our students are equipped for the weather. Call CES at 869-7400 and ask to speak w/ Mrs. Lowery.
- For any child wishing to enter Kindergarten who is NOT 5 years old by August 1:The Early Entrance to Kindergarten window opens January 1st and closes April 1st. Applications can be made online or hard copies can be requested. Filling out an application doesn’t mean that your child will qualify, there are a series of assessments that will determine qualification. CLICK HEREBeginning the 2017-2018 school year, any child who enrolls in Kindergarten in the state of Kentucky must be 5 years old by August 1st. (Policy 09.121)
- Report Cards go home on January 9.
- Our annual District Chess Tournament is January 13. If anyone is available to help volunteer with the gate or concession stand, please email Ms. Burton: anna.burton@bullitt.kyschools.us
- New Immunization Info for 18-19:
- Important immunization changes are outlined in 902 KAR 2:060 for 2018-2019 school year. Please note the following changes in order for your child to attend school:
Effective July 1, 2018: ALL students in kindergarten through twelfth grade must show proof of having received two doses of Hepatitis A vaccine to attend school. These 2 shots must be given 6 months apart. Please DON’T DELAY in getting these started. Students will need to have the first dose before January and the second dose by July 1st. This is a NEW school requirement. Therefore, if your child has already been vaccinated, the school will need the certifications showing proof in order to enroll your child for the 2018-2019 school year.
Students aged 16 years or older must show proof of having received two doses of Meningococcal vaccine to attend school. If the first dose of meningitis vaccine was received at age sixteen (16) years or older, the second dose is not required for school entry.

We have identified 6 Elementary Schools and 4 Middle Schools open to student transfers for the 2018-2019 School Year. Transfers are dependent on no issues with the student’s grades, attendance and discipline; there must be room in the identified grade level and the parent must transport. ***** Parents may make application December 1 through January 15, for a student transfer in accordance with Board Policy to attend an Elementary or Middle School identified as accepting transfers for the next school year. Non-compliance with academic, attendance, or discipline requirements may result in forfeiture of future transfers or a return of the student to his/her school of residence. Once granted a transfer to an open school, parents may make application for their child to attend that school subsequent school years in accordance with Board Policy.
Elementary Schools: Cedar Grove Elementary School (K, 1st, 2nd, and 4th grades only), Crossroads Elementary School, Freedom Elementary School, Maryville Elementary School, Nichols Elementary School (K, 1st, 3rd and 4th grades only), and Overdale Elementary School
Middle Schools: Bernheim Middle School, Hebron Middle School, Mt. Washington Middle School, and Zoneton Middle School
