ILEAD: FALL BREAK

Every Child, Every Chance, Every Day

Hello Trailblazer Families:

Have a Wonderful Fall Break!  Make Memories!  Sharpen your Saw!
Students will be out of school for Fall Break October 2 - 9.  School resumes on October 10 with the doors opening immediately at 8:30 and school beginning at 9:00am.

BE PROACTIVE:
  • October Habit of the Month Picture Challenge:  Begin With The End In Mind
For the month of October our Habit of the Month is to “Begin With The End In Mind.”  Students that follow this habit plan ahead and set goals. These students engage in things that have meaning and make a difference. These students are an important part of their classroom and family unit.  They contribute in purposeful ways and look for ways to be a good citizen.
This month, try to catch your student “Beginning With The End In Mind.”  Students might be setting a goal and taking steps to try to reach it.  They may be making a plan for getting an assignment completed or a plan on how they will learn something new.  Talk about this habit with your student and see if  you can see them putting it in to action.  Please email any pictures or “shout outs” to Mrs. Spencer (Nickie.spencer@bullitt.kyschools.us) so we can celebrate our students that are Beginning With The End In Mind outside of their school environment!
  • New Dates for Krispy Kreme Certficate Sales for PTA:  Order forms go home on October 10 and are due October 17.
  • Help out the PTA by linking your Kroger Card to Crossroads PTA #75830!  This small step helps our PTA to assist in providing for our school.  They have helped with our new buddy bench, the playground, basketball goals, and many other funding items!  We appreciate your consideration and time.
  • As you may already know, state assessment scores were released yesterday.  We are currently making progress.  Last year, our school worked very diligently to increase our growth and gap scores from the year before and we did do that.  Are we satisfied with the outcome?  No, but we did make gains and are continuing to refine our practices to ensure that our students are successful.  Please keep in mind that KPREP is one measure - we also measure ourselves by how successful we are in teaching our students more than the content, such as leadership skills, technology skills and how to get along with other people.  We are excited to see how much we grow this year!

ILEAD: 9/11 - 15/17

Hello Trailblazer Families:

BE PROACTIVE:
  • Seven Habits Monthly Picture Challenge
As a Leader in Me school, each month we focus on one of the Seven Habits of Happy Kids.  Each month we are challenging families to submit a picture of their students displaying our habit of the month.

Our habit of the month for September is Habit #1:  Be Proactive.  People that live Habit #1 take responsibility for their own actions.  They take initiative and choose their own attitudes, moods, and actions.  They do not blame others for their own mistakes and do the right thing, even when no one else is looking.

Throughout the month of September try to catch your student BEING PROACTIVE!  Students showing this habit may be packing their lunch for school, setting their clothes out the night before school, doing their homework or chores, or may come up with their own idea to showcase this habit!  Please email Mrs. Spencer with your pictures!   Her email is nickie.spencer@bullitt.kyschools.us.  We can't wait to see our students living the Seven Habits outside of school!
  • Parents:  Please make sure your child is at school by 8:50 if they are planning on eating breakfast.  We are having a large amount of kiddos that are getting to class late due to arriving after 8:50 and still needing to eat.  Thank you for your cooperation.
  • FROM THE FRC:  If you have not sent in your vision and hearing screening forms, you may do so on Monday.  Please return the signed, yellow form.
  • MAP is coming up this week!  Students will be taking the assessment to show us his/her instructional level.
  • PTA Fundraiser starts this week, too!  Check your child's backpack for more information
  • 21st Century Applications will be coming home on Monday.

ILEAD: 9/5 - 9/8/17

Hello Trailblazer Families:

BE PROACTIVE:
  • What a great week!  I spent quite a bit of time in classrooms this week and the kids are engaged and working on increasing their learning.  Remember, every day a child is at school, they are building the foundation for the rest of his/her life.  If a child misses 2 days a month, that totals 20 days -- almost 10% of the school year!  That 10% may not sound like a lot, but in the learning that occurs in the elementary level; it is crucial!  Think of education like a house that is being built -- would you want 10% of your foundation missing?  Me, neither!  We do know students have illnesses and will miss occasionally.  However, we do want to work to meet our goal of 96.5% attendance for the year.  We are off to a good start, let's keep it up!
  • Don't forget, we will be out of school September 4 for Labor Day and September 5 for our first Bullitt Day (formerly known as a Teacher Planning Day).  The doors will open bright and early at 8:30 at September 6.
  • PICTURE DAY is September 7!  Please don't wear GREEN!  The photographer uses green screen technology and we want to see more than a floating head.  :)
  • Students who have applied for the Student Lighthouse Team will have interviews on Friday, September 8.  Those students will receive a note on Wednesday with his/her scheduled time. We have several applicants for the 10 open positions.  Any student who does not make the Lighthouse Team will be assigned to various committees or leadership roles throughout the school.
  • From the FRC:  Permission slips are coming home Wednesday for FREE vision and hearing screens to be completed at school on Sept. 11.  If your child needs a vision exam for school, this counts!  It is always a good idea to have regular exams since children grow and change so quickly.  We may be able to identify an issue before it becomes a problem that interferes with their education.
Upcoming Activities:

September 4:  LABOR DAY -- NO SCHOOL
September 5:  BULLITT DAY -- NO SCHOOL FOR STUDENTS
September 7:  PICTURE DAY!
September 12 - 22:  MAP Assessment, K - 5
September 20:  HIGH ATTENDANCE DAY!
September 21:  Friend's Club w/ Mrs. Lowery
September 22:  KONA
September 29:  Sharpen the Saw
