ILEAD: 8/28 - 9/1/17

Hello Trailblazer Families:

BE PROACTIVE:
  • Looking at the week ahead, we're excited to start our 3rd full week of school.  I have seen lots of students engaged in instruction, taking assessments to see what they already know and learning how to interact as a class.  Our students are excited to be learning and so are we!
  • 21st Century Update:  We have offered the 21st Century Coordinator to someone this week and she has accepted.  As soon as she starts, we'll make an official announcement and work on getting 21st up and running this fall!  Thank you for being patient as we transition to a new coordinator, we are working hard to ensure that your children receive the best services that they can and that we can get it started very soon.
  • Today was our first Sharpen the Saw activity (Habit 7) of the year and the kids had a great time building relationships, learning to work together and enjoying their time.  Next month, the students will use their Crossroads Cash in order to earn StS.  We always have a great time and I can't wait to hear about our successful CES students earn their Crossroads Cash!
  • Attendance:  Please remember, if your child is going to be out of school, call Della and let her know.  Also, if a child leaves early or comes in late, it counts as a tardy.

ILEAD 8/21 - 25/2017

Hello Trailblazer Families,

What a great week!  Our students have been engaged in learning all week, working to determine where they are in their instructional level and determining what our next steps are in his/her learning.  Thank you for having your children here, on time and ready to learn.

BE PROACTIVE:
  • On Tuesday, August 22, our Preschool and Head Start friends start school!  Please keep in mind that buses may be slightly slower than normal for a few days.
  • Grades 3 - 5 students will have the opportunity to apply for our Leader in Me Student Lighthouse Team.  These 10-12 students will be involved in helping plan many activities in our school.  If your child is interested, please have them get an application from Mrs. Skeens.  The applications are due Friday, September 1, 2017.  The students will be selected through an interview process, similar to a job interview.  We'll have interviews in early September.
  • Please remember, if you come into the building, you will need a picture ID.  Also, if you are going to go on field trips or wish to volunteer, please make sure come in and fill out a volunteer form.  They are good for 2 years and are $10.

ILEAD: 8.14 - 17/2017

Hello Trailblazer Families,

We had another amazing day here at CES!

Thank you for your support and patience as we start this school year!  Our students are already following our school expectations and we have successfully had several drills where everyone was calm and followed directions precisely!  Kudos to our SUPER STUDENT LEADERS!

Coming up next week:  We will have bus drills early in the week, so students may take a little longer to get to class.  Please make sure that your child has everything they need to get to class prepared for the day.

Monday evening, the Boy Scouts will be having a round-up open house at 6:00p.  If your son is interested in Boy Scouts, this is a great way to get involved and help the community.

Friday, August 18 is KONA ICE Day!  Please remember that we do not let students call home, as we are building independence skills.

Thanks for your support and encouragement.  We're excited to see what next week brings!

ILEAD: Day 2

August 10, 2017

Good afternoon Trailblazer Families,

Day 2 went very smoothly, again!  Thank you for allowing our Trailblazer Leaders to walk themselves to class.

We had another great instructional day.  I was out and about several times and saw lots of good discussion, teaching and learning occurring.  Thank you for making sure your children are here and ready for their day!

The afternoon car rider line was much faster this afternoon!  All the buses left on time and as of 4:33p, every student has been delivered.

Just a few notes to keep us moving:

  • PLEASE remain in the car rider line.  Each time someone has to cross at the crosswalk, it slows down the line.  Please stay in line and let your child out in front of the building.
  • In order to change transportation, we must have transportation changes in writing with a parent signature.  We cannot accept changes over the phone.
  • And, last, but not least -- please, no flip-flops.  Students need shoes with a back on them for safety purposes and
As we move into Day 3 -- we hope to have the car rider line moving quickly!  Thank you for your patience as we refine our process.

Our doors open at 8:30 am, but our instructional day starts at 9:00 am.

Again, thank you for a smooth day!
