ILEAD: 1/22 - 26/2018

Every Child, Every Chance, Every Day

Hello Trailblazer Families:

BE PROACTIVE:
  • Habit of the Month-  January Picture Challenge
Each month we are challenging Crossroads families to catch their students following our habits of the month.  See below for more information regarding the January Habit of the Month and be sure to send pictures to Nickie.spencer@bullitt.kyschools.us for us to showcase our students being outstanding leaders!

In the months of January we are focusing on Habit #5: Seek First To Understand Then To Be Understood

Students that Seek First To Understand, Then To Be Understood listen before they talk.  They value what other people have to say and their feelings.  These students try to see things from the viewpoints of others.  They listen without interrupting.  They have confidence when voicing their own ideas and look people in the eyes when talking.  Try to catch your student being a good listener or having empathy for others!

  • Updated School Calendar can be located HERE. Monday, June 4 is currently the last day of school for students. Please remember, February 20 is now a day off due to the special election

  • Our Crossroads Leadership Day is Friday, March 16 from 9:30 - 12:00. If you would like to tour our school during a regular instructional day to see how the Leader in Me has impacted our students, please make sure you come in and fill out a background check with Ms. Stacey in the front office so you will be able to attend. The background check is good for two years and costs $10. Also, the last day of school will be our annual Field Day, and you will need a background check to attend that, as well.
  • Since we have been out of school 5 days, the MAP assessment has been shifted back a week. Your child's teacher will inform you of specific days that your child will be testing. MAP will now be January 29 - February 8.

The Early Entrance to Kindergarten window opens January 1st and closes April 1st. Applications can be made online or hard copies can be requested. Filling out an application doesn’t mean that your child will qualify, there are a series of assessments that will determine qualification. CLICK HERE

Beginning the 2017-2018 school year, any child who enrolls in Kindergarten in the state of Kentucky must be 5 years old by August 1st. (Policy 09.121)
      • New Immunization Info for 18-19:
        • Important immunization changes are outlined in 902 KAR 2:060 for 2018-2019 school year.  Please note the following changes in order for your child to attend school:
        • Effective July 1, 2018:  ALL students in kindergarten through twelfth grade must show proof of having received two doses of Hepatitis A vaccine to attend school.  These 2 shots must be given 6 months apart.  Please DON’T DELAY in getting these started.  Students will need to have the first dose before January and the second dose by July 1st.  This is a NEW school requirement.  Therefore, if your child has already been vaccinated, the school will need the certifications showing proof in order to enroll your child for the 2018-2019 school year.
        • Students aged 16 years or older must show proof of having received two doses of Meningococcal vaccine to attend school.   If the first dose of meningitis vaccine was received at age sixteen (16) years or older, the second dose is not required for school entry.

Have a great weekend and don't forget to sharpen your saw!
