Hello CES Families:

It has been a whirlwind of a week!  We are already digging into the specific content, working on on-demand writing and getting into the last week of August!

This upcoming week is a time for us to give back.  The Bullitt County Childhood Cancer Awareness Day is September 2.  All next week - we will support this worthy cause by participating in a spirit week and taking up a collection of new, unused toys.  Help us support those students in our district who have battled childhood cancer!

Also, next week is our Boy Scout recruitment night on Monday, August 29 at 6:30.  We are excited to host this night.

Please be aware that transportation may be different next week, as one of our drivers is leaving us - we'd like to thank Ms. Megan for her service to our students.  We are sad she is leaving us, but are excited for her new adventures.  Thanks, Ms. Megan!

We look forward to seeing all our Trailblazers next week and are appreciative of your support.

I hope that you have a great weekend and don't forget to Sharpen your Saw!

Ms. Wright

We have had a GREAT week!

I know I sent this out yesterday, but just as a reminder - Due to capacity issues, we are going to be restructuring some of our classrooms.  We have 90 students that will be moving.  If your child is moving, you will receive a letter home today.  Please know, this isn't preferable, but we must be flexible.  We worked very hard to identify students that will be moving classrooms, please know that this is a united decision.

We ask that no changes be made at this time, we have very tight classroom assignments.  These changes will begin August 22, 2022.

Next week, our students will begin our initial On-Demand Writing window.  This is a time that we see what our students can already do in writing and will begin to develop groups based upon the work that they are doing.

We will also have a time to meet with the Boy Scouts for their annual recruitment time.  The Girl Scouts will be coming by in early September.

Another brief reminder - all dismissal changes need to be completed in the School Dismissal Manager App.  Please make sure that you are using this to note any changes.  Also, the district does not permit students to ride home with another student on a different bus than they the bus they normally ride upon.

All in all, we had a great week and hope that you have a great weekend and don't forget to Sharpen your Saw!

Ms. Wright

WOW!  We had a GREAT week!  Thank you for being patient in car rider line and with buses running a little slower than normal.  All in all, we had great transitions.

Please remember, school doors open at 8:30a and school starts promptly at 9:00a.  If your child needs to eat breakfast, please have them here by 8:45a so they have enough time to eat and get to class.  Next week starts our first full week and we ask that you remind your children to go to bed in a timely manner.  Our students need to be ready to learn and we can't wait to start sharing more learning time with them!

We had lots of practice drills today, so you children may come home talking about them!  Every year, we are required to complete a number of fire, severe weather, earthquake, lockdown and "bomb" drills.  These were just drills and the kids did a great job practicing.

Chromebooks are being distributed and, as of right now, most of them will stay at school.  This is to limit the amount of damage when traveling back and forth.  When the weather changes - we will start sending them home more often.  However - students will be using Chromebooks regularly at school.

We will continue in our current class assignments through next week.  However - we are over capacity in most grade levels and will need to make some split classes to ensure that we meet state guidelines for capacity.  Change is certainly hard, but we will need to be flexible when making these significant changes in classroom assignments.

Last, but certainly not least, please make sure you are letting us know if your child is going to be absent or not.  Please call school to let us know!

Have a great weekend and don't forget to Sharpen your Saw!

Ms. Wright
