Hello Trailblazer Families!

WHOA!  What a week!  We are back in our systems and have already started some assessments this week.  IREADY is a new assessment to our school and district.  We're excited to see how our students perform in both reading and math!  As of right now, we are still trying to ensure that we are learning more and more about each student so we can teach to their specific needs and abilities.  

It has definitely been a HOT week.  We hope that we'll be able to allow students to go outside next week in the cooler temperatures!  It is very important for us to ensure that we provide our students time to go outside and take a break from learning.  

ROOMS - if you are having problems downloading or using the Bullitt County Public Schools App, please delete the app and re-install it.  We have heard several people having a hard time downloading documents or getting messages from the app.  According to the company, this is usually fixed through deletion and re-installation.  We hope that this fill fix any issues that we are having.

Report Cards will come out on October 20 - and conferences will be scheduled around that time, as well.  Please complete the Title I Fall Conference Survey:  CLICK HERE.

We do have two openings on our Site Based Decision Making Council - we will be taking nominations next week for those two open positions via a google form.  One open position is for a minority member Per KDE, Schools having eight percent (8%) or greater minority membership in their student population based on the Superintendent’s Annual Attendance Report (SAAR) are required to have minority membership on their school council [KRS 160.345(2)(b)2].  To determine whether a school must have at least one minority member on its council, please consult the SAAR summary sheet on the SBDM Webpage (and attached). Schools may also reference their own Infinite Campus (IC) data from the preceding Oct. 1. If IC data is used, documentation must be archived onsite for five years.

Students who are interested in applying to be a part of our Student Lighthouse Team (Grades 3 - 5) will be able to apply starting Monday.  The application is due no later than 9:00 am on Friday, September 8, 2023.

Hello Trailblazer Families!

Our students had an amazing first week of school and we had our first school wide morning meeting today!  Each staff member was introduced to the student body and celebrated!  We look forward to continuing the tradition of celebrating students, teachers, pods and staff members in our weekly meeting.  Starting next week, we'll share everyone we celebrated.

Our district communication tool - the BC App and Rooms is up and running!  We hope you are able to access this tool to stay in connection to all the info from our school and district!

Students in grades 4 - 5 interested in ARCHERY:  Coach Ross has scheduled an interest meeting for Parents and Students on Tuesday, August 22 at 6:00p.  

Guidance from BCPS DPP on Student Attendance:  CLICK HERE.  Our district has a new communication tool that will now make contact with you about your child's absence.  As always, if your child is going to be absent, please give us a call at Crossroads.  You will, however, receive an automated phone call from BCPS, as well.  

Preschool and Head Start begin on Monday, August 21.  CLICK HERE for the PreK Calendar.  Buses may be slightly slower next week until the students adjust to the routine.

THANK YOU for a great first full week!  I think we have most of our transportation glitches taken care of and kids are headed home in a timely manner.  We are looking forward to another great week!

WELCOME BACK!

We have had a smooth transition back into the groove of school and are happy to have our Trailblazers back with us!  Thank you for being patient as we navigated getting School Dismissal Manager back up and running.  We may have a few hiccups, but we are LIVE!

Mrs. Jones would like to remind parents that our students need to wear athletic shoes on the days that they have PE.  If you need reminders of those dates, Mrs. Jones will be happy to share calendars to classrooms.

As we look forward to next week, we are excited to start digging into more content and into the work of learning and growing into Leaders.  Ask your child, "What did you learn today?"  I would love to hear all the experiences that your child is having, feel free to let us know how they are growing and learning.

Spotlight on the Graduate Profile:

Our students worked this week on being EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATORS.  As students have gotten to know each other this week, they have worked to describe themselves to their peers and teachers and worked on asking questions to find out more information about their classmates.  We will continue to work to help grow this skill with our students.

First Day of School:  August 9, 2023

Doors open at 8:30 am with school starting at 9:00.  Parents will not be permitted to walk students' to class, we will have plenty of assistance for students.  

We are a CEP school, so your child can receive a FREE BREAKFAST and FREE LUNCH each day!

23-24 School Calendar

Tour de Crossroads Grades 1 - 5 Open House:  August 7, 2023
5:30 - 7:00

Come meet your child's teacher, visit with other CES families, Learn more about Crossroads and the supports we offer!  We are so excited to get this new year started!

Pay for the Chromebooks ($35). You can pay for Chromebooks in three ways: cash, a check made payable to CES, or online through the My School Bucks website. This is the only way to pay using a credit or debit card.

Pay for the agenda fee ($5). The agenda fee is used to pay for the planners.

This fee can be paid in the same ways as the Chromebook, but if writing checks, the checks have to be separate. If you are paying by check you will need to write two checks one for the Chromebooks and one for the agenda fee. The Instructional fee can also be paid on My School Bucks.  Also, if you have more than one child, each child will need to be paid separately UNLESS you pay online.  Please show the confirmation of payment to your child's teacher from My School Bucks.
