Hello Trailblazer Families! 

Well - our day today didn't start, nor end as we expected. As of right now, I do not have a date to reschedule with the zoo, but we are working to see if it is possible. THANK YOU so much for being flexible and joining us for a day of fun. Also, we must give a BIG THANK YOU to our PTA. They helped us pivot and provided pizza for each student, including a capri sun and our lunchroom had a cookie snack to add to the pizza. We are SO appreciative of the volunteers, chaperones, PTA, lunchroom and all the staff who were able to change their plans for the day.

Kentucky Summative Assessment:  Our students in third-fifth grades will complete the end of the year state assessment on April 29-May  2nd.  We will begin testing each morning by 9:15.  Please make sure your students are here on time and ready to go for the day.  We are proud of all of the hard work of our Trailblazers and are excited to finish strong!

What a wild and windy week!  The weather has definitely brought April Showers - I can only hope that the May Flowers are soon upon us.  

The students have been very busy working and learning this week and I was able to teach a few classes this week, as well.  Today - Mrs. McDonough, Mrs. Marker and I worked with 5th grade on some real-world fraction learning.  The students were really engaged and excited to build their learning and grow through this process and I was absolutely thrilled to work with them.  

Next week - we continue to take the IREADY assessment and FASTBRIDGE screener.  These measures give us knowledge of what students have learned this year and where we will continue to adapt our student's learning for the remainder of the year.  Please ensure that your child is here, on time and ready to show us what they know.  

See below from Mrs. Weihe - library books will be due much earlier this year, as the school year ends so much earlier!  Please make every effort to find lost books, we want everyone to be able to check them out.

Hello Trailblazer Families!

Happy Spring Break!  We are excited to have a short time away from school to relax and refresh as we enter the last few weeks of school.  The school will be closed all next week - April 1 - 5 and April 8.  School resumes on Tuesday, April 9 with the doors opening at 8:30a and school beginning immediately at 9:00a.

Over the next few weeks, we will be culminating a year's worth of learning through review activities, assessment and some fun, as well.  As is our tradition - the last day of school is FIELD DAY!  If you wish to volunteer, you will need a background check on file.  These are available through our office and are $10, but last two years.

WHEW!  Welcome to Spring in Kentucky!  The weather has been up and down!  As we continue to navigate this last week before Spring Break, make sure your students are present, ready to learn and focused. 

We have two more class basketball game evenings coming up and I cannot wait!  K and 1 were VERY competitive and high scoring this year, I know 2/3 and 4/5 will do a great job, as well.

Looking ahead - our students will be taking KSA at the end of April/beginning of May.  We will stop sending chromebooks home unless severe weather is predicted in order to ensure that our student's chromebooks are in good working order before those assessments begin.

Also, please make sure you have a background check on file if you plan on attending the Zoo field trip OR volunteering at Field Day (the last day of school).  

This weekend wraps up our inaugural season of Basketball for our 4/5 Girls' and Boys' teams.  Also, Saturday is regional Governor's Cup at Cedar Grove for our Academic Team.  We wish you all the best of luck!

Can you believe we are already mid-March?  This year is FLYING by -  This coming week, we have several activities planned for your students and you!  The SPRING Book Fair starts this week!  We have linked this with our annual class basketball games AND we have our FAMILY MATH NIGHT (see all the info below).  

We have two full weeks of school before spring break.  Please make every effort to have your child here, on time and ready to learn.  This is a key point in the year where students are starting to master more standards that will prepare them for the next school year.  By attending school, your child will be better prepared for new learning.
