ILEAD: 12/11 - 15/2017

Every Child, Every Chance, Every Day

Hello Trailblazer Families:

BE PROACTIVE:
  • We have 5 full days of learning to go before Winter Break.  Please make sure your child is here, on time and ready to learn.  Any minute of instruction that a child misses is a missed opportunity.  Also, we have a full day of school on Friday; if a child is checked out early, it does count as a tardy.  Please make every attempt to have your child here all day.
  • We are so excited to announce that we have a new Little Library out by the garden!  We are currently accepting donations of books to share in our Little Library!  If you have gently used books that you wish to share, please email me at julie.skeens@bullitt.kyschools.us and let me know.  We are excited to share this resource with our community!
  • New Immunization Info for 18-19:
    • Important immunization changes are outlined in 902 KAR 2:060 for 2018-2019 school year.  Please note the following changes in order for your child to attend school:
    • Effective July 1, 2018:  ALL students in kindergarten through twelfth grade must show proof of having received two doses of Hepatitis A vaccine to attend school.  These 2 shots must be given 6 months apart.  Please DON’T DELAY in getting these started.  Students will need to have the first dose before January and the second dose by July 1st.  This is a NEW school requirement.  Therefore, if your child has already been vaccinated, the school will need the certifications showing proof in order to enroll your child for the 2018-2019 school year.
    • Students aged 16 years or older must show proof of having received two doses of Meningococcal vaccine to attend school.   If the first dose of meningitis vaccine was received at age sixteen (16) years or older, the second dose is not required for school entry.

  • Habit of the Month-  November and December Picture Challenge
Each month we are challenging Crossroads families to catch their students following our habits of the month.  See below for more information regarding the habit of the months for November and December and be sure to send pictures to Nickie.spencer@bullitt.kyschools.us for us to showcase our students being outstanding leaders.

In the months of November and December we are focusing on Habit #3: Put First Things First and also on Habit #4: Thinking Win-Win.

Students that Put First Things First know it is important to work before they play.  They focus on things that are most important and know when to say “no” to things they should not do.  These students set priorities, make a schedule, and follow a plan.  They are disciplined and organized.  You might catch your students doing their homework before they play video games or doing their chores before watching tv.  Look for ways your student is spending their time in productive ways.

Students that Think Win-Win look for ways that everyone can win.  They balance having courage for getting what they want with consideration for what others want.  They are kind and considerate of other people.  When conflict arises, these student look for third alternatives that make everyone happy.  You might catch your student working out a disagreement with their sibling or showing kindness to a friend or neighbor.  Look for ways your student is being considerate of others and problem solving effectively!
